Iowa State University created the first veterinary medicine program in the nation. Through the years, the school has become a leader in the areas of agriculture, engineering, extension, and home economics. Iowa State’s Athletic program, the Cyclones, was named after a remarkably high number of disastrous cyclones hit the state in 1895. The school aims to build progressive and inventive characters known as the Cyclone experience.

The buildings depicted are Memorial Union, the Campanile, Beardshear Hall, Marston Hall, Marston Water Tower, and Morrill Hall. Memorial Union is home to several departments, a bowling alley, and the university’s bookstore, and serves as a memorial to the men and women who served the U.S. in Word War I. Marston Hall and Water Tower are named after Anson Marston who built the engineering department and is responsible for Iowa’s early road system.
