Virginia Military Institute is the oldest state supported military college in the United States. The campus is referred to as the “Post,” a tradition that reflects the school’s military focus and the uniformed service of its alumni.
The buildings depicted are Jackson Arch, The Barracks, Cadet Battery, Jackson Memorial Hall, and the Pendleton Coles House. Jackson Arch, which honors “Stonewall” Jackson, is the main entrance into The Barracks. Each time a cadet leaves the barracks through the Arch, he salutes a statue of Jackson. The Barracks, also known as Old Barracks, is a historic building on campus. The Cadet Battery, four six-pounder cannons, was cast in 1848 specifically for VMI. Jackson Hall is VMI’s assembly hall and houses the VMI Museum. The Pendleton-Coles House was built in 1850 as faculty housing.
VMI students take great pride in their school while building lasting memories. That makes this a unique gift for recent graduates, past alumni, and fans of all ages. Here’s to all the fond memories!
Your school’s artwork was created by hand using pen, ink, and watercolor. The paper is hand cut and layered to give the work a creative three-dimensional appeal. The image is 3.5” x 12.5” and is framed with a red/yellow mat in a 9” x 18” quality, black metal frame.
