University of Pittsburgh

$75.00

The University of Pittsburgh was established in 1787, and after surviving two fires, the school made its final home in the Oakland neighborhood. During the outbreak of polio in the early 20th century, Dr. Jonas Salk set up a research lab on campus and created an effective vaccine for the disease. Before exams at the University, it is a good luck tradition to rub the nose of the Millennium Panther.

The buildings depicted are the Cathedral of Learning and Heinz Chapel. The Cathedral of Learning, a Late Gothic Revival Cathedral, is the centerpiece of the campus and is the second tallest university building in the world. The Heinz Chapel was a gift from Henry John Heinz as a memorial to his mother.

University of Pittsburgh delights in its history, academics, and athletics making this a unique gift for recent graduates, past alumni, and fans of all ages. Relive the memories!

Your school’s artwork was created by hand using pen, ink, and watercolor. The paper is hand cut and layered to give the work a creative three-dimensional appeal. The image is 3.5” x 12.5” and is framed with a blue/gold mat in a 9” x 18” quality, black metal frame.
