Funded by businessman, John Purdue, Purdue University has become an established institute for agriculture, engineering, and health sciences. The English department reached prominence by created the first online writing lab, Purdue OWL. Purdue University also created the country’s first college-credited flight training courses of which Amelia Earhart served as a consultant. The school’s mascots are the Boilermakers and Purdue Pete. Hail Purdue!
The buildings depicted are Purdue Memorial Union, University Hall, Purdue Bell Tower, Hovde Hall of Administration, and Purdue Mall Fountain. University Hall is the only remained building of the original six. The Purdue Bell Tower is an icon for the University and is found on Purdue logos, as well as logos for the city of West Lafayette.
