Beginning in 1867, West Virginia University has grown from a one building, six student school into a 913 acre campus with over 29,000 students. The school holds many traditions including Mountaineer Week. Many fun events are held during this week to liven school spirit, such as PRT Cram in which students “cram” as many of themselves as they can into one PRT car.
The buildings depicted are Martin Hall, Woodburn Hall, Chitwood Hall, and the Mountaineer. Martin, Woodburn, and Chitwood Hall are all located on the quadrangle known as Woodburn Circle. Martin Hall was the first campus building named in honor of the University’s first president. Woodburn Hall is the center of the quadrangle and is of Second Empire architecture. Chitwood Hall houses the Department of Foreign Languages. The Mountaineer statue stands in honor of the school’s tradition to annually select a member of the student body to be the Mountaineer mascot.
West Virginia University delights in its history, academics, and athletics making this a unique gift for recent graduates, past alumni, and fans of all ages. Relive the memories!
