George Mason University is the largest public research university in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The University was founded as a branch of UVA in 1957 and became an independent institution in 1972.

The buildings depicted in “The Patriots” artwork are Concert Hall, George W. Johnson Center, Mason Hall, and Patriot Hall. Concert Hall is the centerpiece of performing arts on campus. Johnson Center is a unique facility designed to encourage curricular and extra-curricular activities for students. Mason Hall is home to the President’s Office.
